Oh what to do when the weather is hot , I know go sailing with your Grandad. Dad brought this small sailing boat a few months ago and although Nick had gone out with him, John had not. it was a fun time by all, the boys had a great time. As well as my niece's and nephew, I think Dad also had a great time as he got to spend time with his grand kids. They took it out on Kawana Lake while the rest of us enjoyed the breeze in the shade.
Here is Arndt, Tamika, Dad and the boys getting ready to go out

Hello to all I would like to say thank you to everyone how wished Nicholas a happy birthday.
He had a great one with lots of lovely things and a sleep over with his best friend. They were up to the wee hours of the morning hyped up on movies, lollies, chips and other goodies. I think sleepovers where one of the best things when I was a kid and my kids love them even if the lounge room dose look like a bomb went off the next day. As for me sorry very little on the sewing front as the garden needs some care at the moment to get it ready for summer with new mulch and the removal of BINDI'S. Horrible little weeds that dry up every summer and become prickles that get stuck in your feet. I know you can spray them but I'm not one for using poison, so I spent the afternoon pulling them out . Yes the boys do wear shoes in summer but when you dive for the perfect catch or goal the last thing you want is mum removing prickles from your belly, knees or in one persons case ( me) from there back side because she sat on them.
Have a great weekend I know I will.

This is Nicholas my baby he has starting cooking at school and although they have been doing it for a few weeks this was the first thing he was able to bring home. He was so proud of his cake and decided to decorate it with cream and strawberry's for desert (It was deli sh). He is celebrating his 12th birthday this week it seems like only yesterday that I was deciding his birth date, how time flies.

Well the time to confess to my naughtiness has come. A few weeks ago I bought this range of Amy Butler fabrics to make a bag for my sisters birthday next month. I thought this range would be nice in the bag and although I like them they were not something that I would have looked at for me, well that's what I thought at the time.
My pallet of colours has always been the rich dark colours like reds , blues , browns and greens. I like the brighter colours but find it hard to use them. So while they sat there on my desk we started to have a chat and decided to audition blocks for a quilt. I was already heading down the wrong path ,bag was forgotten and a quilt was being planned
I was doomed. Well now is the time to reveal what the fabrics and I have come up with. I hope you like it I think the fabrics do.
This block is the rail and fence block the lovely Lady's at quilting have been making charity quilts using this block and although I have made it a few times it is such a versatile block. I love how bright and light it has come up perfect for summer. The down side to all of this is I now have to go back to the quilt shop and get more fabric ( he he he he he)

Ohhh look what I got in the post today....................
Tammy at http://heartstringquilts.blogspot.com/ my swap partner from the spring swap sent me this lovely parcel in the post to cheer me up for last week and to say thank you for the book I sent her. Ohhh they are so pretty I like the fabric and pot holder's she made her self ,she is a clever lady. She is away on a cruise at the moment, I hope she is having a great time. The quilt Sampler magazine is my favourite and sells out fast here if your not quick. So hopeful this afternoon with a nice cup of tea I will get to read it before once again tackling the ever growing pile of ironing. My mind is off, wondering what I can do with the layer cake fabrics. They are fun the quilt in my header is made from a layer cake. Just never enough time...........

Well it is off on it's maiden journey all the way to Germany. I hope she enjoys it and that they are the right colours that she asked for.
I think they are because I had a peek on her blog .
Flowers are Summer to me and as I like to applique and I thought this may work, plus she asked for something traditional .
I would like to thank Michele for organizing these swaps, I have had a blast with them and look forward to the next one. Have fun sewing.

What a week I'm so glad it is over and I can relax and reflect over the week. I hate to say there has been more lows than highs, but we all have weeks like that I'm sure. I am pleased to say that Harry has helped with the cheering up alot ( love my cats). I will not confess to being a domestic goddess but I try not to have the velvet look around the house and I try to keep things in some sort of order around the house, BUT I DO HATE IRONING. Some weeks it may sit there for a few days until I get to it; but the other night we couldn't find Harry I called him, got him food and still no sign of him. On our hunt around the house we discovered this lump in the washing........
Harry had found a good spot and wasn't giving it up for any one. I hate to say that after this week I may join him, but I am not sure the towels are big enough so may be a quilt.
Oh well the week is over and I hope you all have a great weekend.

Once again I signed up to do a swap as I enjoyed it so much last time. I got to know two lovely lady's, Tammy from Arizona who received my quilt and Jeanette from Mississippi who sent me my lovely quilt. They are both great lady's and although they are on the other side of the world I hope that one day I will get the chance to sit and have a coffee with them.
A few weeks ago I received the address of were my next quilt is to go (my quilts are getting to see more of the world than I am at the moment).
So once again I have had fun designing a quilt, although I have failed again in making it 12 1/2".
The centre is already 14 1/2 " and by the time the borders are on it, the quilt will measure 19 1/2". As I have said before I'm not good at making things small. So with project in hand I went to my local Quilt shop for some fun at hunting down the fabrics. What do you think of my choice I hope she likes them. I especial like the blue flower print on top, but that was the last of it so sad.
I was a bit naughty and came home with some extra but I couldn't walk by this box of moda Bake shop I am such a sucker for their fabrics, I do love their greens and reds they are always so nice. The other fabrics is Amy Butler and they are for a bag that I am making for some one, they are so her colours.
