I have had a few weeks where I feel like I have been chasing my own tail and not getting any where fast. To those of you who have sent your details for Bear Bear I am sorry I will organise the details this weekend ( which is Luckily a long weekend ).
I got some lovely book today from America . The first one is "The Farmer's Wife Samplers Quilt" by Laurie Aaon Hird and the other one is "The Quilters Alum of Patchwork Patterns" by Jinny Beyer. Although I haven't had a chance to have a good look at them yet. So what I have had a peck at looks yummy. Maybe late with a cup of tea and a Tim Tam ( yummmmmm).
Now I am pleased to show you some of my quilts that I got back from my quilter ( My lovely Uncle Stephen). These quilts have been sitting in that cupboard where things go to hide. Its the when I get to that later cupboard lol. This is a quilt I made 3 years ago and I love the way Stephen has quilted this quilt, have a look at the back it is just as good as the front.

On Saturday Caloundra Arts group ( were I go to quilting) had their Autumn Spectacular. This was to show the public all the different groups that could be found at the centre as well as what they could do. It was great to see all the talented people and the wonderful display of their work.
Quilters had a table where some of the Lady's would demonstrate some different styles of work. I was asked to help and decided to show some needle work. Now I hate to say this but I started these blocks quite afew years ago ( try 4) It was a block of the month from Chandlers Cottage called " Oriental Baltimore" . Well I am pleased to say I have finished block number 4 so I have only 5 more block to complete ( lets hope it doesn't take me another 4 years).
This is the new block finished called Aster. I am happy with it and like the 3D bits in the flowers.

This is Cherry Blossom and would have to be my most favourite one.
This is called Maple I do love the colours and miss the maple tree in our old house.
This was the first one I made and it is called Japanese Iris although I added the extra Iris at the bottom as I thought it needed it and I didn't like the way the original block was finished there. I have started the next one so we will keep stitching away with every spare moment we get, so maybe soon I will have another one to show you. Have a great week and happy sewing.

Well as I said in my last post I had a friend that would like to see more of the world and to help him on his way we have even created him a blog for all his great adventures on his travels. So to find out a bit more about Bear Bear or just to say Hello visit his blog . The Button is in the side bar. If you would like to put this button on your side bar for others to enjoy in Bear Bears trip please feel free or if you would like for Bear Bear to visit you just leave him a comment. So far he has had offers from Victoria Australia ,USA and New Zealand. I have to say I am a bit jealous as Bear Bear is in for a great trip I think.
To make this a great trip Bear Bear is hoping to get his picture some where in your home town and a story to go with it before he is then posted on to his next destination with a small gift for his next host. As Bear Bears mum I am hoping that he has a great time and doesn't get lost on his travels, but I am sure everyone will look after him and enjoy his company. I am also hoping he gets to see some quilt shops for me to as he knows I just love to see new fabric.

Well here is a picture of the new quilt I will be making as soon as I have the rest of the fabrics. I have 10meters and am a bit off the 31 yards required to make it. So I thought you might like to see the fabrics I have got so far. They are from Windham Fabrics Civil War Vc 1860 by Nancy Gere, I love the colours and the patterns, although I think some more green and a few other colour are needed now.
I am hoping to get some purple to go with this range but am finding it a bit hard so will have to keep looking ( oh what a shame more trips to the quilt shops lol).
I have a little friend who would like to go on a little holiday . The idea is I will send this little friend to some one with a little surprise ,this person then has to take a picture of my friend some where in their home town and put it on their blog with a little story. They will then send it on to the next person also with a little surprise and so on and so on. With any luck my little friend will come back with lost of interesting stories and picture as well. I am hoping that he will appear on everyone blog so we can all see how the trip is going. So if you are interested please let me know .
Happy Sewing and take care

I was playing last night and decided to try and make a Lone star quilt as I have not made one of these yet . Although it is only small around 53" I am happy with the way it all came together.
I used the fabrics I got last year from the lovely Lillian for my birthday, as well as a few from my stash. I will have fun with quilting this one as I am full of ideas and have not the chance to quilt one of these before.
I have managed to get hold of the pattern " Reach for the Stars" that I was looking for from a wonderful customer, who got it from her friend in South Australia . So I will have to make this one soon , I am still in the process of getting 31 yards of fabric together for it (wow I was surprised when I saw how much was needed) . I have started and it is all civil war fabrics so yummy, so next post I will show you what I have got so far.

I have seemed to have lost my 9 ". I have looked and looked and still can't seem to find it, Oh where can it be ! Its not under the desk or in the shed, Oh 9" where are you.
No I haven't lost my mind not yet, am working on it though..... Last year I brought a wonderful book called "Layer Cake, Jelly Rolls and Charm Quilts" by Pam and Nicky Lintott. Anyway a few weeks ago I decided to make the "Hidden stars "quilt in the book which uses 1 Layer cake and 1m of fabric. I just love stars and thought it would be a fun simple quilt to make, which it was.
So on completing the top I measured it and found that I had lost 9" in size from what the book said it should be. I under stand that not all machines sew with the same 1/4" seam allowance but wow what a different in size.
Even with out the 9" it still came out great, now I just have to find time to pop it on to the machine to quilt it .
I do like the red stars they stand out so well against the rest of the fabric. I hope you all are having a safe and happy Easter with lots of family and friends ( don't forget the chocolate)
