As for the rockmelon we had no idea what it was when it came up and have just left it to see what it was ( I'm famous for growing weeds thinking they are plants) well she is a big beauty and hopefully will taste nice when ripe, as for how it got there one of life's mysteries.
Happy sewing
Big Hugs Bec
I think all that top needs is your wonderful quilted touch, and a the sliver of some colored binding. It's gorgeous, and looks ready to be quilted, Bec!
ReplyDeleteAs for the mysterious sprouting of the melon, do you think one of your boys planted a seed there??? Or maybe someday long ago, someone had a picnic in that spot and dropped a seed that finally took hold (wink). Whatever the answer, hope it's yummy!
Oh, I was thinking quilting, too! Maybe sort of biggish stitches in aqua/teal along the white made with Perle thread - aqua/teal binding and you have a beautiful little quilt - very inspirationsal, thank you,LOL!

It is wonderful just the way it is. It also would be wonderful with a little wider white border and an appliqued vine here and there with some flowers, but that is a lot of work, and I am not sure what you are using it for. It really is fresh and clean looking.
ReplyDeleteOh please don't put it into the dreaded cupboard ! You know I'm not a quilter but I think once the binding is on it will be stunning !
ReplyDeleteIt has a real fresh crisp look, I like both the ideas above what about combine the two andquilting a vine and flowers in the border... But please do not throw it in that cupboard!
ReplyDeleteHi love your quilt, I'd add a narrow sashing of one of the dark fabrics and then another white border and a dark binding. Please don't put it in the cupboard - you could have it as a giveaway rather than that! Ha, ha, have just worked out that you are Michelle's Bec, (if you know what I mean) I must have jumped to your blog from hers at some point! Must concentrate more :)
ReplyDeletehey why not put a row of pinwheels and tnen another row of white. then you can quilt it with your ussual professional touch. Guess who!
ReplyDeleteI like your quilt. Maybee you can applicate some butterflies on the border.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the quilt ... I reckon it would come up a treat if you quilted it with a contrasting thread ... not too dark, maybe a variegated one(???).
ReplyDeleteAs for the rockmelon ... how lucky!!! Maybe there was a seed in your compost????
Hugs,
Joy :o)
I don't think it needs anything else except quilting. I agree with Joy perhaps a contrast colour.
ReplyDeleteI'd be tempted just to back and bind it. I adore rockmelon and that looks a humdinger!
ReplyDeleteBec, I think it is so funny seeing your greenery growing beautiful and you telling me how hot is there usually. I am freezing my *** off and can't see any change in sight. Love the quilt and think it is just fine the way it is. Take care and thanks for being so supportive when I was sick and recovering.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and I think once you quilt it and add a colored binding it will look great!
ReplyDeleteI love the watermelon!
I like it the way it is also but it sure would look pretty with some applique , the vine and flowers mentioned earlier sounds perfect to me and it would really add so much interest even if you just did it in opposite corners .I also agree don't put it in the cupboard , it would be a shame to hide it away .
